Calgary Jain Temple (Mandir / Derasar)
Temple Project Teams Formed
Following the land acquisition, the Executive Committee called upon members to volunteer for the Temple Project. In June 2026, The project team was formed across four key areas: Project Management, Construction, Finance, and Fundraising, bringing together members with diverse skills and expertise to advance the project.
The formation of these teams represents the collective effort of JSOC members to transform the vision for a Jain temple into a structured and achievable project.
Land Purchase Agreement Signed
In April 2026, the Jain Society of Calgary reached another major milestone with the signing of the Land Purchase Agreement for the acquisition of ~ 6 acres of land in Glenmore, Rocky View County.
The land acquisition was made possible entirely through contributions from members of the Jain Society of Calgary, without any outside donations, reflecting the collective commitment, generosity, and support of the members toward building a lasting foundation for the community’s future.
Land Identified and Approved for Purchase.
In January 2026, the Jain Society of Calgary presented the identified land opportunity to its members at a Special General Body Meeting.
Following detailed discussion, the resolution to purchase the land was passed with overwhelming support. More than 90% of the votes cast in favour of proceeding with the purchase. Marking a significant milestone in JSOC’s journey toward establishing a dedicated temple & community space.

Our vision is to create a permanent spiritual home where Jain values can be practised, preserved and passed on to future generations.
The temple will provide a dedicated place for:
- Daily darshan, puja and spiritual practice
- Paryushan, Das Lakshan, Mahavir Jayanti and other Jain celebrations

More than a building, this temple will become a lasting centre for faith, learning, seva and community.
Why a Permanent Temple
For decades, Calgary’s Jain community has gathered in rented and temporary spaces. As our community has grown, so has the need for a permanent place that reflects our faith and supports future generations.
A Permanent Spiritual Home
A dedicated temple where worship and Jain traditions can continue throughout the year.
Built for Future Generations
A place where children and youth can experience Jainism as part of their everyday community life.
Community Independence
A property owned and operated by JSOC, allowing the community to shape its spiritual home around Jain principles and community needs.
A Lasting Legacy
An opportunity for today’s families to create something that will serve Calgary’s Jain community for generations.
